Pennsylvania Divorce Laws
According to a US Census in 2013, about 9.5% of the state's population went through divorce. Like many other states, at least one spouse must have been a resident of the state for the 6 months prior to the filing. If you file a simple, uncontested divorce, it can be granted 90 days later. If it is a high convict situation that is contested, it can take over a year. Pennsylvania is both a fault and no-fault state. If you are filing based on fault, you must prove that the other spouse is guilty of adultery, desertion, extreme cruelty, bigamy, imprisonment or marital misconduct. Otherwise you can just claim the marriage is irretrievably broken.
Pennsylvania Parent Education Programs
If you are getting divorced and have children under the age of 18 years old, your judge might mandate that you complete a co-parenting class. When parents fight or stop communicating in a functional way, the children are more likely to suffer from low self-esteem, poor academic progress, psychological and social issues. The goal of this course is to increase parent awareness of the impact of divorce on the children and to teach new tools to effectively communicate and build positive family relationships and a parenting plan. Our class is ideal to fulfill this court mandate, but we always suggest that you get prior approval to take an online program from your judge, social worker or through your attorney.
Pennsylvania Client Review
"I am so glad that my friend told me about this class. It was full of useful and valuable co-parenting advice and the customer service was great. I finished it in one evening and was able to show my attorney a copy of the certificate of completion the next day." Kylie M. - West Chester, PA
