New Hampshire Divorce Laws
Between 2005 and 2013, research shows that New Hampshire's divorce rate was on the rise. It's not the easiest state to get a divorce in. At least one spouse must have been a resident for 1 year prior to filing for an "Absolute Divorce" or "Divorce from the Bonds of Matrimony". You can use either no-fault or fault grounds for the basis of divorce. Individuals often use fault grounds if they are trying to gain advantage in child custody, or alimony issues.
New Hampshire Divorce Education Classes - RSA 458-D
New Hampshire law requires parents with children under the age of 18 who are getting divorced must attend a 4 hour child impact seminar. The state agrees with the concept that children do best when both parents have stable and meaningful relationships with the child/children. This class is meant to help caregivers successfully work as a team by covering topics on how to resolve conflict at home, develop empathy for your children, effectively communicate and co-parent, and increase your child's self-esteem.
New Hampshire Student Review
"I wasn't able to attend a local class because of my work and child custody schedule. This was a great way to learn new skills on my own timetable. Like every parent, I want the best for my kids and this was a great educational tool to help me gain the confidence and knowledge I need to move forward successfully!" Jacob T. - Keene, NH
